What if the merchant or cashier says they have never heard of GiftYa?

A merchant, cashier, server, etc may not always be aware of GiftYa, and that's totally fine!

If you chose the "Activate" method, the merchant or cashier does not need to notified you are using a GiftYa. We have approval from all merchants to offer GiftYas, but partner directly with Visa, Mastercard and Amex for the actual payments and credit part of the process. Your cashier will process your purchase like normal using a Visa, Mastercard or Amex and you will receive a credit on your statement for the amount you spent.

If you chose the "Use as an eGift" method, you can display the barcode or QR code to your cashier.
